Biography

Phumi Mlotshwa completed her LLB at the University of the Western Cape and obtained articles where she gained experience in general litigation, family law, estate planning, and real estate and property law. She however found her passion and niche in the notarial practice, estate planning, and real estate and property law in 2018 and has since then accumulated years of experience in these practice areas.


Phumi is a humanitarian at heart, believes in giving back to the community, and has established a pro bono department in a reputable law firm where she was previously engaged, which assisted the indigent with property transfers, wills, administration of deceased estates, as well as giving free legal advice and property law education. Phumi continues along this path.


In 2025, Phumi took the leap of faith and merged with Maphanga Attorneys to form Mlotshwa Maphanga Inc where she brings over 7 years of experience in the abovementioned areas of speciality into the practice to offer her wealth of knowledge and build a strong team together with Sipho Maphanga. 


Phumi is Admitted as an Attorney, Notary Public and Conveyancer and brings into the team these areas of speciality to form a strong force where clients can be serviced by a team that has the relevant expertise to produce favourable outcomes.


In her spare time, Phumi enjoys hiking and running, and has sat in her running club’s Exco Committee, as well as the Two Oceans Marathon NPC Board of Directors.

Her motto in life is that, in every difficult situation, whatever life throws at you, always look for the silver lining. There is no situation that is too hopeless to recover from.
